Thank You Essential Workers

Thank You

We are all in this together. Thank you to our Health Care Heroes on the front lines, to the Delivery Drivers, essential Retail, Construction, Telecom, and Utility Workers. Thank you, Grocers and Public Trans, thank you to Crisis Management Teams in Government and thank you to the thousands of Teachers and Parents dealing with so much who are doing their part to stop the spread. Tough times don’t last but tough people do. Long Island Teachers, Teacher leaders in the community.

NYSUT Disaster Relief Fund

An urgent appeal for donations to support our Health Care Workers.

NYSUT members across the state are quite literally risking their lives, serving on the front lines in hospitals and other health-care facilities throughout the Empire State during the deadly COVID-19 crisis. And with New York now the epicenter of the nation’s pandemic, NYSUT wants to reassure our brave “Health Care Heroes” that their union is there for them while they selflessly put themselves in harm’s way to care for all of us.

That’s why we’re urging you to donate to the NYSUT Disaster Relief Fund.

Proceeds will go directly toward purchasing and providing Personal Protective Equipment, food and other supplies for all of our dedicated health care workers. Click here to donate now!

Below: Members of Laborers Local 66 have been hard at work setting up temporary facilities to expand South Side Hospitals capacity in order to meet the increasing demand for more space.

Below: Schools have been closed for weeks and both teachers and students’ lives have been upended. While this crisis is scary for adults, it is even scarier for their students. To reassure these students and to let them know that they are still thinking about them, teachers have begun making videos to let their students know they miss them. Watch as Farmingdale Federation of Teachers’ members show their students just how much they miss them.
