Long Island Teachers is once again proud to sponsor the Run 4 Beigel, a 5k run that celebrates the life of Scott Beigel. Scott was a teacher at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas in Parkland Florida who was murdered while protecting his students during the Parkland school shooting. Since his death, the Beigel family, who lives on Long Island, has established the Scott J Beigel Memorial Fund to help raise money to send at-risk youth to sleep away camp. The fall run is also a celebration of Scott’s birthday and this year will take place on what should be his 40th birthday.
