Good Public Schools are a Labor Right
On Labor Day, Long Island Teachers honor working people and their unions. Organized labor provides a pathway to prosperity, as does public education. The unions of Long Island Teachers have fought to make our schools some of the best in the country. But private investors are looking to cash in on our school’s success in the form of charter schools. We need to be cautious of any candidate for state legislature that are influenced by these profiteers. On Labor Day, we pay homage to all the rights many before us have fought for. Having good public schools is one of those rights.
