Dear Parents and Guardians,
Over the past couple of years, parents and communities have become aware of the proliferating consequences associated with the New York State ELA and Math tests. These tests are administered to students in grades 3-8. Last year, parents throughout New York and in our South Country community opted to refuse these tests for their children.
While it is inappropriate for an individual teacher to advise parents on “opting-out” of the state tests, we are hoping that you will utilize the information in this letter in order to make your own decision regarding your child’s education.
