Teaching Our Students About Dr. King

This year the Farmingdale Federation of Teachers’ Civil and Human Rights Committee put together some classroom and personal resources that their members can use to talk to their students about Dr. King. This includes grade level appropriate materials highlighting not only his well known work on civil rights and voting rights, but also his work standing up for unions and the Poor People Campaign. They also encouraged their members to take part in a day of community service on Monday.

In Hempstead, members of the Hempstead Classroom Teachers Association, are dedicating part of their classes towards teaching their students about Dr. King as well as taking part in activities to honor Dr. King.
