Welcome Back to School & Happy Labor Day

Over the past week schools across the Island have begun to reopen, with even more reopening next week. After a year and a half of remote and hybrid learning, we are opening up for in-person classes. We believe that students learn best when they are learning in person, but they must be able to do this safely. Teachers from across our many school districts are working diligently to ensure that our classrooms are safe places for your kids to learn and we appreciate every parent who takes steps to keep these classrooms safe. Long Island Teachers has launched a new ad campaign to raise awareness about the importance of keeping schools open. You can listen to the ad below. To help with reopening schools safely, NYSUT has created a School Reopening Resource page.

On Monday we also celebrate Labor Day, the worker’s holiday. This holiday honors the work that working people do every day to keep our country moving forward like our teachers and school support staff who have worked tirelessly to get ready for the new realities of teaching.

Happy Labor Day.
